Not too long ago, I remember seeing an article (here on Oppo or Jalop that I haven't been able to find) about rapgenius.com's new feature, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which tells you how often a certain word you type in appears in songs starting from the late 1980's to this day.

I got curious about what car companies are mentioned the most by rappers the most after hearing "Datsun" in a song that was being played by my roommate. From there I entered all of the car companies I could think of on the top of my head (Rap Stats only let me input 8 different things) and there seems to be a trend that American car companies are mentioned more in raps than Japanese car companies (with Lexus being an outlier).

Chevy came out on top with the highest peak followed by Lexus, Cadillac, Dodge, and Ford in that order, Dodge seemed to have the strangest trend to me basically staying at the same level over the last 2 decades.

I then got more curious and compared American car companies with those very expensive car companies and ended up with the graph above, which I believe can explain itself well by itself.

Unfortunately or fortunately (whichever way you look at it), "oppo" has been mentioned in exactly 0% of rap songs. This tells me that none of us opponauts are have made it far in the rap industry. Maybe that might change soon in the near future.

"Trans Am" peaked at .00011%! Here are the results of the words I most closely associate with rap:

I remember seeing an article similar to this a while back specifically looking at Escalade.

Someone on Oppo: start doing this. Or pay a rapper to say the word once.

Porsche was only mentioned .005% of the time last year, and 908 has never been mentioned.

Sterling Moss has also similarly been unmentioned.

I should listen to less rap, is what this is saying.

This is a pretty interesting website. I had a suspicion Aston Martins were on the upswing, and Escalades were old hat. Sure enough, Aston appears to be very much on the rise. Maybach especially.

However, there's another car maker that seems to dominate the rap game in popularity...

I haven't heard of it before, but it appears to be quite popular.

I read that same article also, but I just haven't been able to find it for some reason despite all of my efforts.

That is very strange. Very strange indeed. It seems that they haven't fully refined their system yet.

People are rapping more about Porsches now than they ever have in human history!

(Which is...not a lot. Oh well. MORE FOR STEF.)
